起初的发心行为
SECTION 6. Behavior when First Generating Bodhichitta
就像我们的导师、大慈大悲、善巧方便的佛陀亲口所讲:“认真谛听,铭记于心,我当为汝宣说。”
Our Guide, the compassionate and skillful Buddha, said: “Listen attentively and engrave it in your heart, I am going to give you the teaching.”
你们也要善加调整听法的行为来倾听。
You should thus carefully adjust your behavior when listening to a teaching.
所听闻的法是:
The teaching that we listen to follows.
现在我们师徒都要深深思维:难得的宝贵人身已经得到,难遇的善知识已经遇到,尤其是更难值遇的正法,以及正法的精要金刚乘,已经值遇。
Now, both guru and students need to deeply ponder the fact that we have obtained the precious human existence so difficult to find, we have met the spiritual teacher so hard to encounter, and, above all, we have met the sublime Dharma, especially its quintessence, Vajrayāna, which is even harder to come across.
此时,务必要脚踏实地修行真实的教言,不要虚度暇满人身。
At this point, we must practice the authentic instructions seriously, not wasting this human body endowed with freedoms and advantages.
假设我们现在所依赖的这个身体,没有使暇满人身具有实义,那么后世必将随业风所牵而流转。
If we fail to accomplish the true value of the freedoms and advantages of this human body on which we are relying in this life, we are bound to be impelled by the wind of karma into samsara in future lives.
一旦生于三恶趣等处,那时纵然佛菩萨们想救也救不了,以自己的业力所感,连善趣的名字都听不到。
Having taken birth in the three lower realms, we could not be rescued even by buddhas or bodhisattvas and, due to the power of our karma, would not be able to hear the names of the higher realms.
所以,现在大家一开始就要通过“暇满难得、寿命无常、轮回过患、因果不虚”这四种厌世心来调伏自相续。
Therefore, from the very beginning, we should tame our mindstream with the four thoughts that turn the mind from samsara.
正如寂天菩萨所说:“暇满人身极难得,既得能办人生利,倘若今生利未办,后世怎得此圆满?”
Just as Bodhisattva Śāntideva said in The Bodhisattva’s Way of Life: Leisure and endowment are very hard to find, and since they accomplish what is meaningful for humanity, if I do not take advantage of them now, how will such a perfect opportunity come about again?
